Account Banned - Guild Wars Forums

As of Monday my Guild Wars Account was permanently banned for a Breach of the User Agreement and/or Rules of Conduct. This happened without warning which I suppose is their right however (and I'm sure everyone says the same thing) I have no knowledge of any Code violations or Breach of the Rules violations I may have made. I have been playing this game from its begining and am at a loss as to what if anything I might have done.

So I was wondering if anyone else here has experieced a similiar problem and if so were they able to overcome it and what did you have to do?

I have sought the advice of their Technical Support but so far nothing. I'm reasonably confident that an error has been made but if thats the case it shouldn't take that long to rectify it.

This happens every once in a while, as they ban a few hundred accounts a week, and admit to making mistakes now and then.

If you truly feel as though you have done nothing to breach the EULA, then keep up with all tech support e-mails. Make sure to be kind, but firm, and if you are infact innocent, they will unban you. You can find a few instances this has happened browsing this forum.

Beyond that, there's nothing anyone else here can do, aside from say the same thing over and over, and maybe chime in "yeah, that happened to me too".

Also, remember that the first e-mail is an automated response, be sure to follow up on that one if you have not already to ensure that the issue is read by a Tier 1 support person, instead of just an automated response system.

This is the last message I have recieved after also getting my account banned. As of this moment I will start writing to the game magazines asking for a boycott of anything that Anet or NCSoft makes because of there lack of respect for customers on this Issue. I also have done nothing wrong the only thing that my account had was a lot of money because I farmed a lot (over 600k in the bank and 2 sets of FoW armor) so they said I was using a bot.

Again the point of this msg is I am calling for a boycott of everything Anet or NcSoft.

Get a lawyer Wicked. What ANET say, ANET do. Thats how it works. If you dont have a bot or are one and THEY assume you are, they ban you. Asking us to boycott and writing to magazines about that on YOUR behalf isnt gonna help. Anet and NCsoft are way to big for a single person to start nagging about hes account. Your problem is one of many millions unsolved/solved.

They apperently got a server log of what they see is odd and therefor they banned you. You can ask them to send the log, or ask them nicely to tell you exactly what you did wrong. Imo I see this is a serious matter that they have made their mind up on. And to solve it YOU need to handle the problems yourself, think of anything you might have done wrong, did you leave your character linked to a bot over night, did you spam racists or sexuall comments in local chat. Did you offend someone? You must have done something wrong for ANET/NCsoft to react this way. What bothers me is that you are taking it very aggresivly and come with may I say, minor threats against anet..

If I havent done anything wrong, I would calmly handle the situation by emailing them and ask them nicely to solve the problem. To me it seems you know what the problem is.. therefor your reaction is aggresive instead of taking it easy because hey, you done nothing wrong, the issue will be solved in no time.. Get it together, think of what you done wrong. Dont use caps or ! points in your letters. If they dont respond, get a lawyer and do what it says.. as I said, apperently its a serious matter.

And on topic: Use the "Ask a question" thing. Have all your cd-keys at hand, have your plaync login, name, adress jadajada, you know. If they havent sent you a very serious email like Wicked got, I bet the problem will be solved in no time.

Your account has been suspended from GW, for inappropriate language. You will be able to join the game in approx. 60 hours (Code=054).

Funny. I dont have any FoW armor, got barely 4k in my storage, but hey, I was misconducting.

Imagine, someone who hate you the most, because of the nationality problem! Then, agree with his guild members to accuse you of most vicious misconduct, and then simply send a number of e-mails to ANET?

I just wonder, what happens then?

Before you all grasp into the subject of answering this question, just be sure of one thing, there is no way to stop people complaining, and reporting each other, for any reason. A sale gone wrong, someone leave you in the middle of the mission, and you decide that sweet revenge is to "report" that person, someone calls you a bad name, someone just don't like you, because you are different color skin or different nationality...

There is a probability that ANET receives a million complains throughout the day. Most of them are, I am now sure of it, not investigated thoroughly. Why? Because I know for a fact, that I was not misconduct, also, I know some players who also get this ban, because of someone report them. Now, imagine, how the economy works. I got the 72 hours ban. Someone got permanent ban, but he goes and buy a new pack of GW? Well why not earn some money in the ban process?

Although I will in this monologue, just scratch a top of a cake of the subject of selling Guild Wars accounts, money, armors. Some people I know in Guild Wars that are selling the gold for real money on the e-bay. Armors, Rare crafting materials, and I don't want to report them, because that is not my business and not my job to do so! If they can do that for a year now, then ANET is doing a very lousy job with catching people who are making lots of money on their product!

Now, I am not surprised that I am temporarily banned. And I don't mind at all. I will get into a game soon enough and play! In the future I will not talk to anyone anymore, ever on all chat! Because If someone interpret me wrong, I will be baned for eternity!

Like some of the people that I know, I am older player. I am enjoying this game and love it very much. But everything in this crazy world got it's imperfections so as the Guild Wars. They will never ban all bots and they can never catch all of them. And if they continue to ban people who are not guilty as charged, they will just put a hate on their necks in a large playing community. Lot of people I play with, they just admire the project and the idea of Guild Wars, though they got a very low opinion for the management and CEO in ANET!

Oh, I read Gaile Gray statement on baning people, and how they complaining, and how they are not true and they are using forums to get back into the game, although they do wrong, farming, misconduct, breaching the EULA. Well, I am not that kind of a person! You can ban me forever for all I care, I will not have a grudge against anyone

There are more of us simple players, who just love the game, and who are just respect the people who make that game in some point. Don't disappoint us, and try to mistake us for bad guys, hey we bought the game, and show you respect

That's the whole idea of bot farming, to make more money, out in the real world.

You guys need to look at things from the perspective of the mods. They obviously don't have enough time to look into every little thing, and sometimes, as they admit, mistakes are made. All you can do at that point, is calmly and concisely make your points and continue corresponding with Anet until the problem is fixed. Getting angry and taking action against Anet will only make them less likely to help you out. There are plenty of success stories where people have gotten their accounts back after a misunderstanding, many of them posted here. The bottom line is, ask about the events leading up to the ban, see what suspicious actions are linked to you, and if they aren't true, let them know.

the entire game is logged.

that is why you need the time and place in the report so they can get that log entry out and verify if the complaint is valid or bogus.

when they checked the report they actually looked at whatever it was that you were accused of and then temp banned you.

they did not just take the word of whoever submitted the report they checked it out

How the hell can an account be banned for inappropriate language? Language by it's very nature is subjective and therefore what is considered inappropriate here is vulgar elsewhere!
